Kangaroo Leather
is one of the strongest light weight leathers available.
Kangaroo fibre has a uniform
orientation and an absence of sweat glands, giving
this Leather its inherent high physical properties
e.g. tear strength, tensile strength and extremely
good elongation performance. Furthermore, Kangaroo
Leather does not require splitting thereby avoiding
any weakening of the Leather as a result.
Kangaroo Leather fibres run in a horizontal pattern,
compared to Bovine Leathers which have a more vertical
construction – this imparts Kangaroo Leather
with
additional strength and high resistance to abrasion.
This fibre structure and the specific tannages associated
with Kangaroo, also give Kangaroo Leather a natural
resistance to water uptake.
Kangaroo Skins contain much less natural fat than Bovine
Hides/Sheepskins/etc.. and therefore require far less
degreasing than these other Leather alternatives. The
physical properties of the Kangaroo Leather are therefore
not impaired during tanning.
As highlighted by a materials
comparison test, Kangaroo is by far superior
where high performances and durability is required.
Kangaroo Leather allows manufacturers to utilise an
extremely flexible light weight material without having
to sacrifice strength.
AIT Kangaroo Leathers are the Leathers of choice in
sports and high stress applications and are used worldwide
in the production of soccer/football shoes, golf and
other sports shoes, hiking boots, golf and motorcycle
gloving, and other sports accessories. Amongst non-sports
applications,
Kangaroo Leather is also widely used in highest quality
glazed aniline shoe uppers where durability, abrasion
resistance and comfort are a high priority. Premium
Selection Kangaroo Garment Furskins are well sought
for mid to high price point garment and accessories
manufacture.
